Walton Golf Course
Situated in the old Walton Hall Estate, this is generally acknowledged as the premier municipal course in the north of England. It began with nine holes in 1971, was extended and redesigned six years later by Dave Thomas and Peter Allis, and is now a championship standard 6800 yards, with three par 3s over 200 yards long.
In a picturesque parkland setting, with fine views from the 13th tee, it boasts many mature trees and a lot of water which comes into play on seven of the holes.
