Waddesdon Manor was built (1874-1889) by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display his outstanding collection of art treasures and to entertain the fashionable world. Fascinated by the history and culture of France, he commissioned a French architect, Gabriel Hippolyte Destailleur, to build him a Renaissance-style chateau, based on those in the Loire Valley, and employed a French garden designer, Elie Lainé to lay out the grounds. Waddesdon has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain, famous for its Parterre, seasonal displays, shady walks and views, fountains and statuary. The 45 rooms on view hold one of the most exceptional collections of French 18th century decorative arts and English portraits in the world.

A working manor house farm which shows you how things used to work on in days gone by.  It offers hands on activities including milking and feeding. Children can get to dress up and play just like Victorian children did.

Eton Dorney Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake is a world-class venue that will be used for the Rowing events during the London Olympic 2012 Games.

The venue is a 2,200m, eight lane rowing course with a separate return lane constructed to international standards. It is set in a 400-acre park with a nature conservation area. spectators.

The venue’s existing facilities have been enhanced to provide improved facilities for athlete warm-up and Canoe Sprint events during the Games. These works included the installation of a new 50m-span bridge over a widened entrance to the return lake for vehicles and pedestrians.
